Chiropractic treatment done by a doctor of chiropractic or also known as chiropractor is one of the most chosen alternatives to relieve from various spinal problems. As other nerve complaints including neck pain, leg pain, and headache have increased rapidly, the need of chiropractors also increases.

Chiropractic is an alternative medicine with emphasis on diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of musculoskeletal system disorders. A chiropractor is the health professional who conduct hands-on spinal manipulation and other alternative treatments as part of the chiropractic treatments to re-establish the proper alignment of the musculoskeletal structure.

What is a chiropractor good for? Chiropractors are the best at practicing a drug-free non surgical treatment to their patients. Not only having broad diagnostic skill, chiropractors are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises as well as giving counseling on dietary, nutrition, and lifestyle for the overall health of the patients.

However, the chiropractic adjustment or spinal manipulation is the most common procedure done by chiropractors. This treatment is done to restore the restricted movement of the joints into its normal condition. The restricted movement is due to injuries on tissue as a result of car accidents, sport, improper lifting, and other repetitive stresses. Chiropractors will do the chiropractic adjustment to re-establish the physical and chemical changes which in the end able to reduce the pain and inflammation.

This is quite a difficult question because the answer can be yes and no. In fact, a chiropractor is a non-medical doctor, just like other non-medical health care professionals such dentistry, optometry, psychology, and podiatry. A chiropractor has the academic degree of “Doctor of Chiropractic”. They completed 8 years of study, with 4 years of which for Chiropractic College.

Different with medical doctor, a chiropractor cannot prescribe medication (however, the rules are different among states and countries). And in most cases, chiropractors conduct only non-surgical and drug-free treatments (though, it can also be different in certain states or countries).
